This workshop is facilitated by Sister Deborah Troillett, RSM, and Director of Arkansas House of Prayer. Time will be spent reflecting and hearing from others about their journey of silence. We will also practice silence at Arkansas House of Prayer.
We will gather in the St. Margaret’s Welcome Center on the Upper Level of our campus. Registration begins at 8:30. Our program is from 9-12:30 p.m.

This 3 hour workshop is designed to help move your meditation practice to the next level. Time will be spent in the House of Prayer, walking prayer path and labyrinth. Taught by The Rev. Susan Sims Smith, an Episcopal priest, long term practitioner of meditation and dream work.

Then join us for an Interfaith Celebration of Peace through music, pray and wisdom with special guests Shaykh Muhammad Ninowy, Dr. Ysaÿe Barnwell and River City Men’s Chorus. The event is FREE and starts at 6 p.m. at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 1000 N. Mississippi, Little Rock and is followed by the Interfaith Food Festival.

There is an awesome power in the human voice and when uncommon voices are blended for the common good, they become a vocal community at its best.
In this workshop, masterfully led by Dr. Ysaÿe M. Barnwell, singers and non-singers alike will share the common experience of learning in the oral tradition and singing rhythms, chants, and traditional songs from Africa and the Civil Rights Movement. The historical, social, and political context will provide an introduction to the songs.
All that is required is a willingness to sing.
Following Dr. Barnwell, The Rev. Susan Sims Smith, founder of The Interfaith Center and Arkansas House of Prayer, will lead participants in learning chants to help quiet the mind for meditation. She will also prepare them for an experience of silence in the House of Prayer.

Nick Cole has been practicing centering prayer since May, 1990, when he attended his first ten day retreat at Snowmass, Colorado. He has taught centering prayer and led retreats in Colorado and Arkansas since that time. Nick is a retired physician and lives with his wife Carolyn, in Rogers, Arkansas, and Carbondale, Colorado.

Please come by the Arkansas House of Prayer on Election Day between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. – before your vote, or after – and help us support our community with an all-day silent prayer vigil. As always, the House of Prayer is an interfaith haven set apart in nature, dedicated to contemplative prayer, meditation, and quiet. All are welcome.
